SENSOR FEATURES
The sensor housings are constructed ofPEEK, a high performance thermoplasticthat provides outstanding mechanicalstrength and chemical resistance. Multiplesealing materials are used to preservesensor integrity over a wide range ofapplications.

The four electrodes used in the cell aremade of titanium for greater chemicalresistance. Two of these electrodes areused to establish the sensor drivepotential. The other two electrodes sensethe flow of current between the driveelectrodes and maintain the proper drivepotential. The current that flows betweenthe two drive electrodes is directlyproportional to solution conductivity.With conventional two-electrode sensors,as the process solution begins to coat theelectrode surfaces, the sensor outputsignal begins to decrease. This producesan artificially low conductivitymeasurement.

The CDTX-45 four-electrode system useselectrode diagnostics to compensate forthe effects of fouling. As the two driveelectrodes become coated by the processsolution, a feedback mechanism involvingthe two sensing electrodes detects thedecrease in drive potential andautomatically re-establishes the properdrive potential. When the degree of coatingreaches a limit where compensation is nolonger possible, the diagnostic actuates analarm to signal that the sensor requirescleaning.

The unique drive/control scheme ofthis system allows a single sensorconfiguration to be used reliably over awide conductivity range. This systemeliminates the requirement for multiplesensors with varying cell constants thatare restricted to narrow operating ranges.

TRANSMITTER FEATURES
The microprocessor-based transmitteris loop-powered and fully isolated for highservice reliability. The transmitter includes devices to protectthe system from powersurge and brownout events.

The large, high contrast, super-twistdisplay provides excellent readability overa wide operating temperature range, evenin low light conditions. The main displayline consists of large, segmentedcharacters with measurement units. Thesecondary display line utilizes easilyreadable dot matrix characters for clear display of calibration and diagnosticmessages. Two of four measuredparameters may be displayedsimultaneously.

Four-button programming provides intuitivenavigation through the menu-driven userinterface. The 4 to 20 mA transmitteroutput can be configured to represent anyportion of the measurement range. OutputHOLD, ALARM and SIMULATION featuresprovide the user with complete control ofthe system output under any condition.

Diagnostic messages provide a cleardescription of system condition, whicheliminates confusing error codes that mustbe looked up in the operator’s manual.

The flexible calibration method includesstability monitors that check temperatureand main parameter stability beforeaccepting data.
