Description
The OMG-ULTRA-SIO provides thePC with two isolated RS422/485Asynchronous links to data collectionand other devices. Isolation isimportant in installations where theequipment connected to the PC iseither located far from the host system,or on a different power transformercircuit.The optical isolation feature ofthe OMG-ULTRA-SIO-I eliminatesthe risk of ground loop current,a commonly neglected andmisunderstood phenomenon whichleads to data errors and destructionof communications equipment.Individually selectable addressesand extended “AT” interrupts allowfor seamless integration intoWindows and OS/2 systems. TheOMG-ULTRA-SIO appears to thehost system as a standard COM:port requiring no special driversor additional software.
Software
WIN XP/Vista/7 drivers are included as well as support for Linux.The drivers provide IRQ sharing,advanced UART support andserial diagnostic utilities.
