The PX880 Series comprises themost compact, durable, accurate,cost-effective, full-featured pressuretransmitters available. The 4 to 20mA output is standard, with a12 to 48 Vdc power supply.

Designed for stable performancein the toughest environments, with316 SS welded construction, PX880transmitters are ideal for use withcorrosive media and in hazardousenvironments.

Both models have FM and CSAExplosion Proof and Intrinsically Safe approvals andmeet NACE standards for offshoreapplications. With the cover retainedby a stainless steel chain and nointernal jumpers for span turndown,losses due to misplaced or droppedparts are eliminated.

The small size and light weight ofboth models eliminate anycomplicated mounting hardware ormechanical supports, which reducesinstallation time substantially. Theintegral junction box permits simplefield wiring without the need foradditional hardware, and adds tothe speed and ease of installation.

The heart of the PX880 pressuretransmitter is a silicon piezoresistivesensing chip. This miniaturemicroetched semiconductor gives a voltage output proportional to theapplied pressure. The chip isisolated from the process media bya stainless steel diaphragm.Silicone oil is used to transmit theprocess pressure to the sensor.

An amplifier PCB enclosed in asealed chamber is used to convertthe millivolt signal from the sensorto a calibrated 4 to 20 mAtransmitter output. Feed-throughsfor EMI and RF protection are usedbetween the amplifier board and theterminal housing.

Each transmitter is tested over bothpressure and temperature ranges.A compensator circuit is used tobring the output of the sensor intospecification. After compensation, every transmitter is tested a secondtime for pressure and temperatureeffects to ensure that it meetsperformance specifications. Thetransmitters are calibrated tothe upper ranges listed in the orderbox, but end users can recalibratethem to different ranges.Recalibration is done via 3 screwpotentiometers inside thetransmitter’s head. Recalibrating toany range between the 2 listedfor a particular sensor can beaccomplished with a knownpressure source.

The PX881 is flush diaphragmpressure transmitter, designed tomount flush against process mediaand to prevent any media particlesfrom collecting at the diaphragm.
