The LVRD500 Series, a logical extensionto the ultrasonic sensor series,is designed for applicationsrequiring non-contact liquid levelmeasurement, in which ultrasoniclevel measurement is notacceptable.

The LVRD500 Series radartechnology can be adjusted forvariables such as materials to bemeasured, vessel configuration,and system interface. Thesesensors are ideal when vapor,dust, or a foaming surface preventsultrasonic-wave measurements.

LVRD500 Series radar sensorscan detect the level under a layerof light dust or airy foam, but if thedust particle size increases, or ifthe foam or dust gets thick, theywill no longer detect the liquid level.Instead, the level of the dust orfoam will be measured. Internalpiping, deposits on the antenna,multiple reflections, or reflectionsfrom the wall can interfere withthe proper operation of theradar sensor. Other sources ofinterference are rat-holing andbridging of solids, as well as angledprocess material surfaces that canreflect the radar beam away fromthe receiver.

The sensors use improvedmicrowave-pulse technology totrack any target material from thetip of the antenna to the bottom ofthe tank. Their power, pulse widths,and sensitivity depend on thedistance of the target from theantenna and the dielectric constantof the reflecting material.

LVRD500 sensors feature"echo marker" signal processing,making them among the mosttechnologically advanced pulseradar systems on the market.

This technology provides reliable,continuous pulse shapes unaffectedby environmental factorssuch as temperature, vacuums,methane, steam, pressure, carbondioxide, vapors, and condensation.The antenna comes inpolypropylene or an optionalhigh-resistance PTFE that can helpprotect against material buildup.Simple mounting and push-buttoncalibration make for easyinstallation. The sensor can bethreaded directly into a 2 NPT metalor plastic flange. The tank musthave a metal bottom to stop themicrowave signal.
