Description

Manual Motor Protectors (MMPs) features apushbutton or rotary ON/OFF manualdisconnect, Class 10 adjustable bimetallicoverload relay and fixed magnetic shortcircuit trip capability in one compact unit. The Frame B size (45 mm) for motors hasFLA ratings up to 32A. The XTPB and XTPRMMPs are UL Listed under UL 508 asManual Motor Protectors. They provide aneconomical solution for applicationsrequiring simple manual starting andstopping of motors. When used as an MMP,they are typically installed in an enclosure. Many enclosures are offered as accessoriesfor the MMPs. Separate short-circuitprotective devices, such as circuit breakersor fuses, are wired ahead of the MMPs. Theshort-circuit protective device should besized per the NEC code and should notexceed 400% of the maximum FLA dialsetting of the MMP. A Group MotorInstallation can be defined as more than onemotor circuit protected by a single set offuses or circuit breaker on a motor branchcircuit. This eliminates the need forindividual fuses or circuit breakers for eachmotor circuit. Substantial component costsavings, panel space savings and reducedwiring installation time can be achieved inGroup Motor Installations. The MMPs aretested and listed for group installation. Ifremote operation is required, a magneticcontactor can be wired in series with theMMP. Manual Motor Protectors are selectedbased on the overload current rangerequired for a given motor. This currentrange is determined from the motor FullLoad Ampere rating and Motor ServiceFactor usually found on the motornameplate. For motors with service factorsless than 1.15, multiply the motor FLA by0.90 to select appropriate MMP. Example:For motor having FLA of 6.4 A and servicefactor of 1.0 (6.4 A x 0.90 = 5.76 A), selectModel Number: XTPB6P3BC1
