The OMB-DAQBOARD-2000Series sets the price/performancebenchmark for high-speed, multi-functionplug-and-play dataacquisition for PCI bus computers.The hardware design offers all of thefeatures normally found onsignificantly more expensive boards,including 16-bit, 200 kHz A/D, 100%digital calibration, bus mastering,two or four 16-bit, 100 kHz D/Aconverters, 40 digital I/O lines, fourcounters and two timers.

The OMB-DAQBOARD-2000 Series is supported by a growing familyof over 30 signal conditioning and expansion options, offering signalconditioning for thermocouples, RTDs, accelerometers, isolation,high-voltage, strain gages, and much more. Up to 528 channelsof analog and digital I/O can be accessed using oneOMB-DAQBOARD-2000, while maintaining the 5 µs per channelupdate rate. Up to four OMB-DAQBOARD-2000s canbe installed into one PC.

Software support is the most extensive of any board, includingcomprehensive drivers for nearly every programming environmentunder Windows XP and higher. Included in this list are Visual Basic,C++, Delphi, TestPoint, LabVIEW, and DASYLab, and C++ for Linux.Also included is a suite of DaqView software options for setup,acquisition, display, and analysis of acquired data—no programmingrequired.

Synchronous I/Ofor High-Speed Applications
The OMB-DAQBOARD-2000 Seriessets a new standard with its abilityto make analog measurements,read digital inputs, and read counterinputs, while synchronouslygenerating up to four analog outputsand/or a 16-bit digital pattern output.Most other boards require CPUinteraction to access I/O other thananalog input, making it impossible togenerate time-critical analogwaveforms or digital patterns. Withthe new OMB-DAQBOARD-2000Series, the true power of today'sPCI-based PCs can be unleashed.

The same synchronous features ofthe OMB-DAQBOARD-2000 extendto its family of OMB-DBK signalconditioning and expansion options.Up to 256 analog input channelsand 272 (P2 only) digital I/Ochannels can also be accessedsynchronously to one another, withprecise and deterministic channel-to-channel timing. Up to fourOMB-DAQBOARD-2000s can beinstalled in one PC, quadrupling thechannel capacity to over 1000analog input channels, 1000 digitalI/O channels and 16 high-speedanalog output channels.

Signal I/OOne 100-pin connector on theOMB-DAQBOARD-2000 Seriesprovides access to all of the inputand output signals. Unlike othermultifunction boards that requiremultiple PC slots, theOMB-DAQBOARD-2000 Seriesaccommodates all I/O using onecable and utilizes only a single PCIslot.

The 100-pinOMB-DAQBOARD/2000 Series I/Oconnector, P4, is logically dividedinto three sub-ports, P1, P2, andP3. P1, the analog input port,contains all of the analog inputchannels, as well as the sequencercontrol signals for accessingexternal analog input options. Allanalog expansion options attach tothe P1 port. P2, the general purposedigital I/O port, can be used directlyto control and monitor 24 digital I/Olines. P2 can also function as thedigital I/O expansion port, wherebythe 24 lines are exclusively used tocontrol external digital OMB-DBKexpansion options, for up to 256lines of digital input or output. P3contains an additional 16-bit digitalI/O port, as well as the counterinputs, timer outputs, and analogoutputs. Several options areavailable to provide easy useraccess to all of the I/O signals onP4.

Analog Input (P1)The OMB-DAQBOARD-2000 Serieshas a 16-bit, 200 kHz A/D coupledwith 16 single-ended, or 8differential analog inputs. Thirteensoftware programmable rangesprovide inputs from ±10 V to±156 mV full scale. Each channelcan be software configured for adifferent range, as well as for single-endedor differential, and unipolar orbipolar input. Beyond the 16 built-inanalog inputs, the user can expandthe OMB-DAQBOARD-2000 Seriesup to 256 analog inputs usingexternal OMB-DBK signalconditioning and expansion options.As with the on-board channels,expansion channels are scannedat the same 5 µs/channel rate(200 kHz), and most are software-programmablefor range. There isno speed penalty for scanningexpansion channels versus built-inchannels. The OMB-DBK expansionoptions offer a wide variety of signalmeasurements, includingthermocouples, RTDs, strain gages,accelerometers, high voltage,isolation, current, and much more.
