Description
The HHSL402SD is a generalpurposehandheld instrument thatmeasures the noise level of anenvironment or the sound levelproduced by a piece of machinery.Using an integrated 13 mm (0.5")condenser microphone, the metercan measure sound levels from30 to 130 dB with a resolution of0.1 dB and show the results on afront-panel liquid-crystal display.Several features and capabilitiesenhance the meter’s versatility.Among them are autoranging,the ability to hold readings anddisplay maximum and minimumreadings, and user-settablemeasurement parameters suchas frequency weighting (using the“A” and “C” standards) and timeweighting (fast or slow). Becauseit is microprocessor-based, theHHSL402SD can make full use ofthe portability, reliability and largestorage capacities that SD memorycards offer.
Measurements can be madeautomatically at any sampling ratebetween one second and one hour.After timestamping and storingthe measurements on an SD cardplugged into the instrument, theuser can remove the card andplug it into to a laptop or desktopcomputer either directly or via aUSB card reader. The data pointsare stored on the card as fileswith the .xls extension, which canbe opened by Microsoft’s Excelapplication. The HHSL402SD hasa backlit 64 mm (2.5") diagonaldisplay and is powered by six “AA”alkaline batteries or an optional9V AC/DC adaptor.
