Description

FDT7000 Series ultrasonic flow meter is knownfor easy installation with its snap-clamp on pipetransducer body sensors do not come in contactwith the internal liquid. The technology has inherentadvantages over alternate ultrasonic devices including:low-cost, easy installation, no pressure head loss,no moving parts to maintain or replace, no fluidcompatibility issue, and a wide measuring rangethat ensures reliable readings from 0.3 to 19 feet/sec(0.1 to 6.0 m/sec). The series is designed to workon PVC, PP and UPVC pipe systems.

The flow meter is equipped with a ground referenced4 to 20 mA output—the output shares a commonground with the power supply. The output transmitsa continuous current output that is proportional toliquid flow rate. The output was scaled at the factory toensure that the instrument or data acquisition systemthat is receiving the 4 to 20 mA signal respondsproperly, it must be spanned identically to the flow.

The 4 to 20 mA output is designed to source currentacross a loop resistance that is typically located withina data acquisition system or other receivinginstrument. The maximum resistance that the flow canaccommodate is directly related to the DC powersource that is powering the flow meter and the4 to 20 mA loop.
